A message on Family Life
No matter how hard we try, the church can’t be everything to everyone!
The same holds true for each of us. While we do all that we possibly can to be a good son or daughter, sister or brother, spouse, parent, worker, disciple of God, member of the community and more, there’s this reality that there just aren’t enough hours in the day to make it all happen. Most of us struggle and juggle our schedules, usually only having time to respond to the squeakiest wheel (which is often the thing that deserves our attention the least).
I strongly believe that ultimately, what we did to care for our exclusive responsibilities (family and faith) will be identified as the things that really matter the most. Honestly, there are lots of folks who can handle our responsibilities at the office but not many who can be a parent to our children or maintain our personal relationship with God, for us. I’m the only one who can be a father to my sons or a husband to my wife and I definitely can’t have someone fill in for me when it comes to my relationship with God.
I’m a firm believer that it’s the church’s responsibility to support the members of this community by providing a space for each of us to focus on our family and our faith. It is my prayer that in this family life ministry publication, you will find practical opportunities to think about the things that matter the most. Please take the time to review this material; pray about ways that you can further develop your focus on the most important parts of your life and then, commit to making the time to participate in these events.
If you have any questions or if I can be of any assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Blessings,
