Worship
Providence Presbyterian Church is an inviting place of
worship. Each week our congregation assembles in the name of God, praises
God for His blessings, shares our past week's joys and concerns and celebrates
the fellowship that makes us special.
We draw our strength and profess our faith through prayer and praise to God, Bible-based teachings, inspirational music and warm fellowship.
Our service is normally about one hour long and is based on a traditional format, or order of worship.
The Sunday Worship service begins at 11:00 AM. Sunday School begins at 9:45 AM.
Our traditional order of worship includes:
Music has a strong place throughout the Worship service with many groups supporting music in all of its forms. Our Chancel Choir offers a rich variety of voices; our Bells of Providence Handbell Choir gives the service a unique and profound appeal; other choirs made up of our youth also contribute their unique talents at various times; and many other individual singers, musicians and accompanists all contribute to a reverent and rewarding service. On special occasions some of our talented musicians also offer their own individual skills on a variety of musical instruments in order to enhance the Worship service.
During each service there is a "time with
children" aimed at teaching a short Christian truth at the
kindergarten/first grade level of understanding.
Afterwards the children leave the Sanctuary and participate in a special "enrichment" program.
For children above the first grade level who remain in the Sanctuary special bulletins are available to help their understanding and participation in the worship service.
The reading from the Word of God is an important part of
the service. The sermon helps us interpret the Word in the context of our
daily lives.
Celebration of the Sacraments is incorporated into the service regularly. Communion is normally reserved for the first Sunday of each month.
