What to expect in Worship
What should you wear – There is no dress code, so dress comfortably. In worship and sunday school you will see t-shirts ands jeans as well as jackets and neckties and everything in between, but in general business casual is the norm on Sundays at Providence.
​Worship - Providence gathers for worship each Sunday at 11:00am in the sanctuary. We praise God through scriptured readings, the preached word, prayers and song accompanied by our Choir. Our goal is to draw closer to God in a meaningful, spirit-filled worship experience that is welcoming and engages all ages!
Arriving for services - Our church is located at 5497 Providence Rd. in the heart of the Kempsville neighborhood in Virginia Beach. There are several "Visitor" designated parking signs prominently displayed throughout our parking lot, but feel free to park anywhere you wish. You may enter the sanctuary through the main doors under the steeple, or if you park in the rear (Old Providence Rd. side of the building) there is an enternce under the green awning and follow the signs to the sanctuary. Although our worship service begins at 11:00 am many people begin to arrive at 10:45 for a time of greeting and fellowship.
​Children in Worship - We love kids in worship! Children are welcome are invited forward for a Time with Young Disciples. Following the children's sermon they may remain with their parents throughout worship or, children (K-5) are invited to enjoy Sunday School – a special time of lessons and friendship with people specially selected to provide a warm, safe, enjoyable learning experience.
Nursery - The Little Lambs Nursery Room Staff are available to welcome you and your children. We seek to provide a consistent, loving and nurturing environment for your family in a setting that is comfortable and safe. All of our nursery workers undergo detailed background checks annually and are vetted through an application process. The Little Lambs Nursery (birth - 2yo) (room 110) and Little Lambs Preschool (3yo - Pre-K) (room 108) can be reached from the Sanctuary through the door to the right of the pulpit.
Sunday School - Youth Sunday School (6th-12th grade) starts at 9:30 am and is led by Pastor Joel in the Media Room. Several adult Sunday School classes begin at 9:45 AM. Click here for information on all of our discipleship opportunities!
