Attention!

On Monday, August 9, the Session voted “that Providence Presbyterian Church will follow current CDC guidelines as they relate to church activities.” What follows are the current Virginia Department of Health guidelines* that pertain to faith-based communities:

“Individuals should consider their personal risk of COVID-19 before attending an in-person worship service.  Attending an indoor service, including services with singing, is generally considered safe for someone who is fully vaccinated, but considered least safe for someone who is not vaccinated.”

If you are fully vaccinated**: no mask is required, but is highly recommended for everyone’s safety.

If you don’t feel well (i.e., have a cold, fever, chills, cough, scratchy throat…), please stay home.

If you are not fully vaccinated: you should wear masks and practice physical distancing in all indoor public settings and in crowded outdoor settings.

People should model kindness and Christian charity toward all and be guided by two scripture passages: “For if then there is any encouragement in Christ, any consolation from love, any sharing in the Spirit, any compassion and sympathy, make my joy complete . . . Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 2:1ff); and “in everything, do to others as you would have them do to you (Matthew 7:12)”.

** “fully vaccinated” means it’s been 2 full weeks since your final COVID-19 vaccine
